SAL PERRUCCIO
For the past five years I have gone to the Old Saybrook Middle School. I have learned a lot and met so many new people. Although, I have never met anyone like Mr. Perruccio. He was always there with a big smile on his face and his arms stretched wide open whenever I needed it. He has made my middle school experience a time that I will always keep special in my heart.
When I first stepped into school on the first day in fourth grade I saw him with a smile. He called me down to his office full of former students pictures collaged on the walls. He made me giggle with a little joke and quickly snapped my picture. He then proceeded to pull out a little Hershey Kiss that brightened up my sorrowful day. He told me to always follow my dreams and never give up. I still remember that exact moment till this day.
Then two years later we were in 6th grade. Mr. Perruccio was still there waiting for us at the door. The rain was pouring and everyone seemed to be down. But then came Mr. Perruccio. He slipped into Mrs. Blair’s homeroom and sang his famous rain song, “raining, raining, raining, all day long.” We couldn’t help but cheer up.
2006-07 school year is Mr. Perruccio’s last. There has never been one day when he hasn’t said hi and made me feel a little better. He also made all the band kids laugh by conducting a march in the concert. Although the one thing that I will always keep in my heart is when he called me down to his picture filled office to say exactly what he said to me 5 years ago, “Always follow your dreams and never give up.”
Mr. Perruccio, I think, has left a hand print on all of our hearts. We all thank you for everything you have done and we will always have a special place in our hearts for you!
